The Australian Open eventually became her tournament.

Australian Barty impressed right through and took home the win.

The world set started strong when she faced 27th-seeded Danielle Collins and the first set she easily took home with 6-3.

However, she got it tough in the second set.

Barty was noted for two double faults and initially had some problems with the serve.

Collins went up in a heavy lead with 5-1 and looked to take home the set.

However, the home player, backed by the spectators who on several occasions received instructions from the referee, switched up his serve game, including five aces, and equalized to 5-5, to then take the set to tiebreak.

The spotless forehand game was decisive and Barty, who showed nerves of steel, won the tiebreak 7-2.

In this year's edition of the Australian Open, Barty lost a single set - then in the final.

The last time a home player on the women's side won the Australian Open was Chris O'Neil when she beat the American Betsy Nagelsen in two straight sets in 1978.

This is her third grand slam title.

25-year-old Barty won the French Open in 2019 and Wimbledon in 2021.
