Daniil Medvedev can afford a second Grand Slam in a row after the US Open last summer, and dethrone Novak Djokovic at the top of world tennis if he wins the Australian Open final on Sunday, against Rafael Nadal .
After coming close to elimination in the previous round against the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, the Russian, world No. 2, eliminated Stefanos Tsitsipas more easily this Friday, in the semi-finals.
Medvedev (25) beat the 24-year-old Greek (4th in the world) in four sets and 2:30 of play (7-6 [5], 4-6, 6-4, 6-1).
But before affording the right to chain a second consecutive final in Melbourne, after his defeat last year against Djokovic, the seeded number 1 has completely lost his nerves.

Medvedev gets angry with the referee, accusing him of not sanctioning the exchanges between Tsitsipas and his father.

After the loss of the second set, the Muscovite criticized the match referee for not sanctioning the exchanges between Tsitsipas and his father, present in the stands when such "coaching" is prohibited.
“You are so bad, how can you be so bad in the Grand Slam semi-finals?
“he vociferated among other” kindnesses “to the Spaniard Jaume Campistol.
Regrets with the game
At the end of the meeting, the volcanic Russian seemed to apologize to his victim, before sketching a mea culpa at the microphone, in front of the public at the Rod Laver Arena.
"I don't think my emotions help me much," he slipped.
I often lost because of that.
But I managed to refocus.
This new episode will not help the already stormy relations between Medvedev and Tsitsipas, as shown by the icy handshake between the two men at the end of the match.
