Last year, Annika Sörenstam made a comeback, 13 years since she retired from golf.

The comeback came in connection with the LPGA competition at Gainbridge, which was played at the home course Lake Nona - where the family lives next door to the 16th hole.

Later that year, the Swede took part in the women's veteran competition US Senior Open - a competition she won.

That victory gave Sörenstam a place in this year's US Open, a competition that will be decided at Pine Needles Lodge in North Carolina.

It was on that course that Sörenstam won his second straight US Open in 1996.

- I'm flattered by it and it's Pine Needles… that place has a special place in my heart.

But it's hard to go out and play against these young players, so if I can just go out there, have fun and not be so competitive ... that's my biggest problem.

I'm so competitive, even though I do not play that much, says Sörenstam.

If Sörenstam comes to the start, she will "take it easy, swing and see what happens".
