SVT Sport has produced figures that show that the winter season can be one month shorter in 70 years.

This can make it for the winter sports.

Olle Dahlin, chairman of the International Biathlon Federation, says that their goal is to reduce their emissions by 4.5 percent per year and by 2030, climate emissions will be halved.

An example of how they should do this is to review the competition program.

- IBU has long worked with the competition program to minimize travel.

Today we only have about ten places for the World Cup and the World Cup.

We also often start the season in the Nordics because many have their pre-season there and then follow a compressed schedule in Central Europe during the season, says Dahlin in Vinterstudion.

"50-60,000 spectators down on the continent"

The question of where the competitions will be held during the season seems to be one of the crucial questions in an attempt to reduce the climate impact of the sport.

But putting more competitions in fewer places can affect the biathlete's potential to grow as a sport.

- If according to some regulations you have to be in North America, you have to, or you have to change the rules.

The core is around Germany, Central Europe and the Nordic countries.

It is not unreasonable that you end up there in the end and that the entire competition program goes there and so competitors from other parts of the world can get there, says SVT's biathlon expert Björn Ferry.

Olle Dahlin also points out that a parameter to take into account regarding travel in relation to the competition program is the supporters.

- We have to work very seriously to reduce our emissions.

It is also important to highlight the supporters and the audience, they are also part of what we look at to optimize emissions.

There are 50-60,000 spectators when we come down to the continent.

It is a total optimization we work with, says Olle Dahlin.
