Morocco escalates in the face of Hafeez Darraji .. a judicial complaint to the Qatari Attorney General

In an escalating step that takes the case of the well-known sports commentator Hafeez Daraji to the corridors of the courts, the Bar Association in Morocco has initiated a lawsuit against Hafeez Daraji, after a private conversation was leaked in which he describes Moroccan women in swear words.

The club submitted a complaint petition addressed to the Qatari Attorney General Issa bin Saad Al-Juffali Al-Nuaimi, in order to initiate the criminal case in accordance with the requirements of the law on combating cybercrime.

The law stipulates that “a penalty of imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years and a fine of no more than 100,000 riyals, or one of these two penalties, shall be imposed on anyone who infringes on any of the principles or social values, or infringes on others with insult or slander, through the information network. or any information technology means.

The conversation, which Hafeez Draghi denied, was at the forefront of the discussion on social networking sites in Morocco, calling for the necessity of justice for Moroccan women and the punishment of those involved.

The head of the Lawyers Club in Morocco, Mourad El-Agouti, said that he hopes that the Qatari Public Prosecution will respond positively to this complaint, especially after reviewing some of the decisions in which the Public Prosecution automatically triggered the follow-up.

Al-Ajouti added, in a statement to "Hespress", that it is unfortunate to see a sports journalist who gave a bad image of respect for the other and all nationalities and peoples, months away from Qatar hosting the most important global football event (the World Cup).

Al-Ajouti recorded that the club will follow up on the progress of the case through the website of the Qatari Public Prosecution, which provides this feature, and a fellow lawyer in Qatar will be assigned to follow the procedures there directly.
