Chess player Dubov was given a forfeit defeat due to his refusal to play in a mask

Dubov did not show up for the game, so he was given a forfeit loss.

The Russian refused to play a match with the Dutchman Anish Giri in a mask, the press service of the tournament reports.

At the same time, the organizers of the competition specify that the 25-year-old grandmaster from Moscow passed a negative test for coronavirus infection.

Dubov is the 2018 World Rapid Chess Champion.

Earlier it was reported that Dubov became fourth at the 2021 World Blitz Championship.
