The robot referee, which was introduced as a pilot in American professional baseball, is applied to Triple A, the highest level in the minor leagues for the first time in three years.

It is expected to appear in the big leagues as early as next year.

This is reporter Bae Jung-hoon.

<Reporter> When

the pitcher throws the ball out of the right-handed batter, the referee calls for a strike-out one beat later.

It is no use complaining as if the batter who thought it was the ball could not understand.

This is because the robot referee who created the strike zone using data and radar measured the fact that the ball passed through the strike zone and notified the referee of the strike decision through earphones.

For accurate strike determination, the robot referee, which was first introduced to the American independent league three years ago, went through Single A, and from this season on, it will also be applied to Triple A, the highest level in the minor leagues.

The major league referee union is also in favor of introducing robot referees, so it is expected to expand to the big leagues as early as next year.

In Korea, robot referees are also being used for second-team matches and referee training.
