Corona continues to disrupt the European Handball Championship in Hungary and Slovakia.

In the Swedish team, Max Darj, Daniel Pettersson and Niclas Ekberg tested positive for covid-19 and were placed in isolation.

Even worse is the situation for Germany.

Another three players tested positive for covid-19 yesterday and now a total of a dozen players are made unavailable for play.

"Had intense discussions"

With so many players away, it has been unclear whether Germany can even continue the tournament.

But after discussions with, among others, the European Handball Federation, Germany is investing in completing the championship.

- We have had intense discussions and came to the conclusion that we can take responsibility for staying in the tournament, says Mark Schober at the German Handball Association to DPA.

The German Handball Association writes that as a result of the player loss, they applied to move tonight's match against Spain.

In addition, Lukas Stutzke, David Schmidt and Tobias Reichmann are called in as replacements in the squad.
