Calle Halfvarssons 2021 was a difficult year.

In an interview with SVT Sport, he tells about how he doubted himself during the season, mainly during the competitions in Gällivare and the World Cup premiere in Ruka.

- I have had a heavy start to the season and I have doubted.

You put in so much time in the summer and autumn, you put in hundreds of hours and then you do not get paid for it, says Halfvarsson.

"I could not sleep at night"

Sleep has been a big problem for the 32-year-old.

- I had big problems with sleep when we were competing.

I could not sleep at night.

I do not know if there was any stress in the body in any way or if I was just worried, he says.

He further argues about how the tough times have also affected the results.

- That I did not get a good sleep of course meant that I could not perform, it was very hard.

I lay there grimacing and wondering what you were really doing.

Is it even worth spending all this time and lying here and feeling that you do not get anything out of it, he says.

But in the end, he was able to turn the negative thoughts into something positive.

- I do not walk around and depress for a long period.

I can be angry and depressed but then I find something positive, he says and continues:

-I succeeded with my goal to get to the Olympics, it is important to be positive and happy.
