Football Norway is in mourning.

The legendary coach profile Nils Arne Eggen has died.

This was announced by his former club Rosenborg BK on the association's website earlier today.

"It was with great sadness that Rosenborg received the news today that the club's greatest legends are dead.

Nils Arne fell asleep the night before Wednesday with his immediate family by his side ", the club writes.

Eggen led Rosenborg to no less than 14 league titles and eight Champions League finals, with a quarter-final as the best result in the tournament.

He was also the national team captain for the Norwegian men's national team between 1974-1977.

"Nils Arne Eggen is the greatest Norwegian football coach of all time, and Rosenborg's biggest name and star," Rosenborg writes on the club's website.
