Corentin Moutet, 100th in the world, emerged victorious in the first Franco-French duel of the first round of the Australian Open by beating Lucas Pouille (160th) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, Monday at Melbourne.

Moutet, 32 and who was eliminated in the second round last year, will try to pass this milestone on Wednesday against the American Sebastian Korda (43rd).

Semi-finalist in Melbourne in 2019 but dropped in the ATP rankings due to injury, Lucas Pouille had received an invitation to join the main draw this year.

In addition to his half during his last participation, he had always been beaten in the first round since his first in 2014. Another first round match will oppose two Frenchmen on Tuesday: Ugo Humbert (40th) will face Richard Gasquet (81st).
