Al Wasl striker De Lima injured his Achilles tendon

Al-Wasl club, competing in the ADNOC Professional League, said that its striker, Fabio de Lima, had a ruptured Achilles tendon, which means he will be absent until the end of the season at least.

The 28-year-old was injured in the last minutes of Al Wasl's 2-1 victory over Al Ain in the quarter-finals of the President's Cup last Saturday.

Al-Wasl said on his Twitter account: "Medical reports prove that Fabio de Lima was severing the Achilles tendon, which requires surgical intervention, provided that the period of absence and the treatment and rehabilitation program after the operation are determined."

The Brazilian-born De Lima joined Al Wasl in 2014 and has made more than 150 appearances with him in all competitions, scoring over 100 goals.
