Three Algerian journalists were attacked with a white weapon

Three Algerian journalists covering the African Nations Cup in Cameroon were attacked with a knife in Douala, and one of them was slightly injured, the Algerian and African Football Confederations announced Monday.


The Algerian Federation said in a statement that it "strongly deplores the cowardly attack on three Algerian journalists in Douala," noting that "one of these journalists, who was slightly injured, was taken to a health site for treatment."


The Algerian Federation revealed that "mobile phones and one passport were stolen", indicating "his astonishment at this incident."


On the other hand, the Continental Union confirmed that "the three journalists were victims of an attack with a knife by unknown individuals" and denounced "with the force of this cowardly act."


The African Nations Cup kicked off on Sunday with the host nation's victory over Burkina Faso 2-1 in the opening match, and will continue until February 6.
