In 2018 in Pyeongchang, Oscar Wester was the best Swede in slopestyle.

He was the best of all in the qualifiers and in the final it was an 11th place.

In March, he injured his cruciate ligament, but today he would make a comeback in the World Cup in Mammoth Mountain, USA.

At the last moment, he decided to pull out.

- It has felt good, but we made the decision this morning that I would withdraw.

It hurt a little too much in the knee to be able to do a ride that feels good.

I could do a calm ride that does not give much points, but it feels unnecessary, says Wester.

He has now made the decision to give up his bet against the Olympics in Beijing.

- I also skip the next World Cup in France, due to knee irritation.

- It feels boring of course.

I have been fighting for it since I injured myself in March.

I have done everything I could to be able to come back, but it has not really been enough all the way, he says.

How has the injury period been?

- It has been tough of course.

But I have pulled the cruciate ligament before and come back strong after that.

I had high hopes that it would be good, but in recent weeks when I have tried to do my most difficult tricks, I have felt that my knee has not really been able to cope with it.

After this setback, Wester does not want to look very far ahead.

- The future now is to try to be completely good in the lap in the next few weeks and run the World Cups that come after the Olympics.

That is the goal from now on.

Henrik Harlaut, Jesper Tjäder and Oliwer Magnusson will represent Sweden in Beijing.

As Wester is now out of the match, Hugo Burvall and Isak Davidsson make up for the last Olympic place.
