Australia on Thursday canceled the visa of Novak Djokovic who had arrived at Melbourne airport for the Australian Open without the necessary documents to enter the country.

The world No. 1 in tennis, whose vaccination status is unknown and who had obtained a medical exemption, filed an appeal against his expulsion.

Melbourne judge Anthony Kelly will examine at 4:00 p.m. (05:00 GMT) the Serbian's request, detained by immigration services in Melbourne since arriving in the country on Wednesday evening with the intention of competing in the Australian Open .
