[Explanation] Less than a month before the opening of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, a high-performance ski helmet independently developed by the scientific research team of Dalian University of Technology has recently unveiled.   [Explanation] On the 6th, the reporter learned from Dalian University of Technology that the technology of this helmet comes from the "Structural Strength and Lightweight Design" National Defense Technology Innovation Team of Dalian University of Technology, and is supported by the national key research and development program "Science and Technology Winter Olympics". Next, through the use of the lightweight principle of aerospace structure to develop a high-protection variable-rigidity ski helmet to help the Winter Olympics.

  The aerospace structure design is mainly to pursue the ultimate light weight and high load capacity. Similar to this helmet, ski helmets also have such a demand. While light weight, we must maintain a good high protection performance, then we are thinking about how to use it. Aerospace's black technology with thin-walled structure helps us to develop such a ski helmet.

  [Explanation] Previously, the team used relevant technology to successfully reduce the weight of China's largest large rocket, the Long March 5 launch vehicle, by 1145 kg.

This helmet, which uses the Long March 5 launch vehicle shell manufacturing technology, weighs only about 700 grams, and its protective performance is at least 20% higher than European standards without greatly increasing the thickness and weight.

  This helmet has three main highlights. The first is that we adopt the design concept of large area such as curved reinforcement and variable stiffness. This allows our entire helmet to achieve an adaptive stiffness distribution, which greatly improves the impact efficiency.

The second point is that we use short fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite material abs resin, and use more than three such components to replace the original single component. In this way, the stiffness and strength can be greatly improved, and the shape can be shaped at the same time. One impact toughness remains unchanged.

The third point is the head shape data of Asians. We extracted a large number of head circumference data of the national team members and developed customized designs for them. We developed the corresponding design software. In this way, we obtained Now everyone can see such a high-performance variable stiffness helmet.

  [Explanation] In addition, in terms of helmet materials, the research team used a new material composed of carbon fiber, glass fiber, and elastomer after a large number of tests, which can increase the stiffness of the helmet by 4 while maintaining the impact toughness. The tensile strength is increased by 3 times, which greatly improves the helmet’s impact resistance and energy absorption efficiency.

The test of the water has also benefited the school itself.
