Eriksen wants to participate in the World Cup after having a pacemaker implanted

Danish international Christian Eriksen, who suffered a heart attack in the European Cup last summer and underwent a pacemaker implantation, expressed his hope to participate in the World Cup in Qatar at the end of this year, during a television interview with a local channel.

Eriksen terminated his contract with Inter by mutual consent in December, as Serie A bans players from using defibrillators.

"I want to play football," Eriksen said in an extended interview that will be broadcast later this week on DR. "There is no reason not to do that."

He confirmed that the doctors "said that there is no problem with that, they said that things are fine. So everything is stable, and I feel I have the green light to play football again."

"My goal is to play in the World Cup in Qatar," the 29-year-old added, adding that "the question of whether or not to be called up is a different matter...but...I can go back."

The former English Tottenham player suffered a heart attack in Denmark's first match in the continental championship against Finland in Copenhagen last June and was resuscitated on the field.

Emotionally driven, Denmark reached the semi-finals before losing against England.

The playmaker spent a few days in the hospital and underwent a pacemaker implant.

He recently regained practice with the childhood team Odense.

According to the Danish daily BT, Eriksen has mainly focused on physical exercises, but he has also trained with the ball, but does not set out to play for the team.
