African Nations Cup: A new blow to Tunisia, with Saif Jaziri infected with the Corona virus

Five days before the start of the African Nations Cup in football in Cameroon, the Tunisian national team was dealt a new blow by the infection of its top scorer, Seif El-Din Jaziri, with the Corona virus.

On Monday, the Tunisian Football Federation announced that midfielder Youssef Msakni had contracted COVID-19.

Al-Jaziri was the top scorer in the Arab Cup, which was held in Qatar in December, with four goals, to lead the "Carthage Eagles" to the semi-finals before losing 2-0 against Algeria, which went on and won the title.

Tunisia is not entitled to replace any player, knowing that it was allowed to raise the number of players in the lists from 23 to 28 due to expected infections with the Corona virus.

Tunisia is also absent from midfielder Ferjani Sassi, who was infected with Covid-19.

And to Sassi, the Qatari player of Al Duhail, coach Munther Al Kabeer excluded goalkeeper Moez Hassan for technical reasons, Ayman Salernitana, the Italian, Wajdi Kashraida, because of his infection with Corona, and midfielders Saad Bakir and Fakhr El-Din Bin Youssef.

Tunisia won the African Nations Cup once when it hosted the 2004 edition, while it reached the semi-finals in the last edition in 2019 in Egypt.

Tunisia opens its Group F campaign against Mali on the 12th of this month, before facing Mauritania and Gambia.
