Barcelona announces the signing of Man City's Ferran Torres

FC Barcelona announced today that fellow Manchester City winger Ferran Torres has signed a five-year contract with the Catalan club until 2027. "Barcelona and Manchester City have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Ferran Torres, who signed with Blaugrana until 2027".

Torres, 21, will be officially presented in the colors of his new team at the Camp Nou on January 3, where a press conference will be held.

Torres was born in Foios, on the outskirts of the Spanish city of Valencia, and played for his hometown club from 2017 to 2020 and scored six goals for him before joining Manchester City for 20 million euros.

Torres scored 16 goals in 43 games with Manchester City in the 2020-2021 season, and crowned him with the English and FA Cup champions, as well as reaching the final of the Champions League, which he lost against his compatriot Chelsea.

Torres, who scored 12 goals in 22 international matches, has been out of action in the past two months due to a broken foot.

He played a game more, as he came out empty-handed from the group stage of the Champions League.

Barcelona, which also suffers from financial difficulties that forced it to fail to renew its Argentine star Lionel Messi, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain in August, was seeking to strengthen its offensive line after his other Argentine striker, Sergio Aguero, who moved to his ranks this summer in a free deal from Manchester City in particular. He announced his retirement from football in mid-December due to heart problems.

But Torres will not be able to start his career with his new team in the nineteenth stage of the league against its host Real Mallorca on the second of next January.

He did not reveal the value of Torres' transfer to Barcelona, but British media indicated last Wednesday that it would be for 55 million euros.

Torres was transferred from Valencia to Manchester City in August 2020 for €20 million.
