The men's race started at midnight.
The course starts and finishes at "Takebishi Stadium Kyoto" in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto City, and has 7 sections, 42.195 km.
Forty-seven teams that have won the prefectural qualifying round will participate.

The first ward is the longest 10km, and the talented players of each team will appear.
Suguru Osako, who won the 6th place in the Tokyo Olympics marathon, also ran in the 1st ward when he was in high school, showing the top of the section.

72回目を迎える男子は、連覇をねらう広島の世羅高校と、おととし優勝した宮城の仙台育英高校を中心にハイレベルな優勝争いが予想される。
世羅は、去年3区で区間新記録を出した留学生のコスマス・ムワンギ選手など多くの優勝メンバーが残っていて、豊富な経験が強み。
仙台育英は、1万メートルで高校歴代3位の記録を持つ吉居駿恭選手など力のある選手がそろう。
さらに注目は地元京都の洛南高校。エースの佐藤圭汰選手はことし中長距離の3つの種目で日本高校記録を塗り替えている。初優勝をねらう。
