The race started and finished at "Takebishi Stadium Kyoto" in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, and 47 teams that won the prefectural qualifying round participated.
For girls, five people will connect half the distance of the full marathon.

The first ward is the longest, 6km, and many teams of ace will appear.

33回目を迎える女子は、都道府県予選で全国トップのタイムを出した去年3位の仙台育英が優勝争いの軸となりそう。
仙台育英の米澤奈々香選手と杉森心音選手は、今大会に出場する留学生を除いた日本選手の中で3000メートルのタイムが1位と2位。米澤選手を1区、杉森選手を2区と“ダブルエース”を前半にすえ、先行逃げきりで2年ぶりの優勝を目指す。
そのライバルになると見られるのが2年連続で2位の成績を残している鹿児島の神村学園。鹿児島県の予選では、1年生の留学生、カリバ・カロライン選手が区間新記録をマーク。今大会はアンカーで起用する。
さらに出場登録した選手の3000メートルの平均タイムが2番目に速い大阪薫英女学院、第1回大会から33年連続出場の地元京都の立命館宇治高校、それに兵庫の須磨学園などの関西勢が上位をねらう。
