Burman has been plagued with long-term back problems and already has an Olympic place after his results last season.

Now the national team announces that he is changing his plan for the season and is over the Tour de SKi which starts on Tuesday.

"Jens and the team around him have valued the best way to the Olympics, and right now the Tour de Ski is not considered to be the most advantageous."

says Jan Wall, national team doctor, in a press release.

Anton Persson will also refrain from the competitions.

- Anton Person has a mild upper respiratory tract infection and does not start, says Wall.

Gustav Eriksson is called in as a replacement.

The Tour de Ski consists of six competitions and starts in the Swiss ski resort of Lenzerheide on 28 December.

As usual, the Tour de Ski ends in the Italian Val di Fiemme and the awe-inspiring climb up the Alpe Cermis.
