It is planned to let the teams start training again on Sunday, but no one will be allowed ice time until players, coaches and officials have tested negative for covid-19.

The postponed start gives the team an opportunity to be tested and get ready for games, the NHL states.

This means that 14 matches are added to the 50 that have already been postponed this season.

It has also been announced that no NHL players will be able to go to China to participate in the Beijing Olympics in February.

During the previously planned Olympic break, they will instead catch up with matches to be able to catch up with the entire season's program.

On Christmas Eve, it was announced that Toronto's William Nylander has been added to the team's covid list.

This means that he may have tested positive, given an unclear test result or that he is judged to be in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

A total of 13 Toronto players are now on the list.
