- The IIHF's board decided yesterday to cancel the planned international championships in January on the basis of the IIHF's medical committee.
For us in Sweden, this means that the U18 WC for girls is canceled and it is of course a sad decision so close to the start of the tournament, says Anders Larsson, chairman of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and chairman of the executive committee for the U18 WC.
SVT together with several other nations were ready to bet rock hard on the championship.
- We at SVT, together with Finland, Canada and the US, were completely ready to make the biggest TV investment ever at a junior WC for girls.
So it feels very sad not to be allowed to broadcast this championship at home, says SVT's sports director Åsa Edlund Jönsson.
