Niclas Kaus, youth player with the Löwen Frankfurt, died on December 23, 2021 as a result of a tragic sports accident.

Last Saturday, the 18-year-old suffered a serious head injury in the game against the Red Devils from Bad Nauheim in the DNLIII.

In a sport-related duel with an opponent, Kaus fell unhappy and was taken to hospital.

After a quick emergency operation, the doctors tried to save his life in the following days, which ultimately failed. The sports director of the Löwen offspring, Patrick Steingraf, is shocked: "After long and intensive efforts by the doctors and supervisors in the last few days, the news puts us in a state of shock and deep sadness." He also announces that the game will be shut down: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased and we want to help them - as best we can. And we pause, the sport is suspended until further notice, as it should be in this situation. "

The club now also supports all of the team's players, reports Steingraf.

“In hours when everyone is stunned and agitated, looking for support and explanations, emergency chaplains are at our side, among other things.

And we are also thinking of the opponent of the Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim, for whom the whole thing will certainly be difficult to cope with. ”Kaus himself, whose brother also plays in the club, wanted to go to Airbus in Hamburg next year after graduating from high school to start studying there.

"Niclas was a strong support of his team in terms of sport and was always friendly and helpful - and that's exactly how we will remember him.", Said Sports Director Patrick Steingraf.
