A hot topic of conversation this cross-country skiing season has been the duel between Frida Karlsson and Therese Johaug.

Johaug, who was previously unthreatened number one in the distance races, has received a real challenge from the Swedish 22-year-old this season.

Karlsson has, among other things, defeated Johaug in both Lillehammer and Ruka.

But in the 10 kilometer freestyle in Davos, the Norwegian Karlsson broke with a full 17 seconds.

- I got to show where the cabinet should stand last weekend when I won by quite a few seconds.

To be honest, it was nice to end with a victory over "Swedish brother", says Johaug to Norwegian TV2.

"It's bullshit"

Former cross-country skier Petter Northug, who now works as an expert for Norwegian TV2, believes that Frida Karlsson's progress in the tracks is stressing Johaug.

Something the Norwegian star does not agree with.

- Bullshit, I do not get stressed.

It may seem that I am stressed when skiers like Frida develop and challenge me, but that is not true.

Karlsson will have to wait until the Olympics in Beijing before she gets a chance for revenge as Johaug does not compete in the Tour de Ski.

- I have been on the Tour de Ski many times and it is demanding with all the races and trips.

It drains you of energy.

In recent years, I have had good experience of standing over the tour before the championship and therefore I do it again this year.
