The third international from La Rochelle Kévin Gourdon, 31, had to end his career after the discovery of a heart problem, the maritime club announced on Tuesday.

Gourdon, trained in Clermont, joined the port city in 2012. “I was lucky to have a busy career (221 games played), I have experienced a lot with Stade Rochelais, the Pro D2, the fight to stay in Top 14 and then a few years later the finals.

Rochelais president Vincent Merling spoke of "the man that Kévin was, his loyalty to the club, his immense talent" which "made him an emblematic player of the culture and identity of Stade Rochelais".
