[Explanation] At 10 o’clock in the evening, the shops in the Dayuecheng business district of Yinchuan City, Ningxia have been closed one after another. In a commercial ice rink on the fifth floor, the Northeast Short Track Speed Skating Coach Liu Wei and the Northwest team members have just had the world on ice. Start.
[Explanation] Liu Wei, 64 this year, was born into a skating family. At the age of 6, he followed his father who was a speed skating coach to learn skating.
In 1992, Liu Wei transferred to Yinchuan, Ningxia for work reasons, and forged an indissoluble bond with the local ice and snow sports.

In Yinchuan, there is a lake in Zhongshan Park, and there are skating enthusiasts in the lake every winter.
When I came, I skated with these enthusiasts. After a long time skating, I felt that I would like to form an organization. In November 2013, I established the (Ningxia Roller Skating) Association.
[Explanation] After the establishment of the Ningxia Roller Skating Association, Liu Wei began to recruit young students to find "good seed" suitable for short track speed skating, so that more Northwest children can learn professional short track speed skating skills locally.

I started learning (short track speed skating) with Coach Liu when I was 10 years old, and now it's the 9th year.
At the 2019 National Youth Games, I represented Ningxia and won the first short track speed skating youth gold medal.
[Explanation] The most difficult problem in developing ice sports in Ningxia is the venue.
Currently, Liu Wei can only take his team members to use a commercial ice rink to train on Friday and weekend nights.

Although the ice rink is not standard, we practice according to standard technical moves.
Use roller skating, some equipment, use these things to improve their technical level.
[Explanation] Liu Wei's team members are generally young, and the youngest is just 5 years old. This requires the 64-year-old man to master the methods and get along with the children.

I am 10 years old this year, and I have been training skating for two or three years.
My impression of our coach is quite good, because he is a kinder person, and he is very nice and gentle to us under the ice rink.
But as long as we make a little mistake on the ice rink, he will correct it in time and improve the speed even more. The coach is still very good.
[Explanation] Under professional and rigorous training, Liu Wei's players have achieved good results, and many outstanding players have been selected by professional teams from other provinces.

Seven days ago, we sent a group of (team members) to Yanqing, Beijing, where we joined the team.
They skate relatively well and are expected to participate in the national competition.
It is my dream to send our team members to the national team by uniting with other key ice (sports) high-level provinces to jointly organize teams.
