Seriously injured on December 5 in Swansea in a motorcycle accident, Welsh rugby player Ifan Phillips had to have a leg amputated.
It was the Ospreys franchise hooker who revealed the bad news on Sunday.
“I was admitted to the operating room as soon as I arrived, but after a long surgery, it was not possible to save my leg.
So I had to have an above-knee amputation, ”said Phillips, who is hoping to receive a prosthetic leg.

The 25-year-old son of former Welsh international hooker Kevin Philipps has started a fundraiser to support him and his family as they recover.
This fundraising enabled him to collect more than 58,000 pounds (around 68,000 euros).
"Your donations will be used to finance my rehabilitation and, I hope, the purchase of a prosthetic leg, which will allow me to seize new opportunities," he explained.
40 matches since 2017
“Those who know me well know how active I am and will continue to be personally,” continued the hooker, who has 40 appearances with the Ospreys since his debut in 2017.
