Obviously, the NBA is tired of games postponed due to coronavirus.

The North American Basketball League and the Players' Association (NBPA) reached an agreement Sunday evening on the rules surrounding the recruitment of additional players against the backdrop of Covid-19, according to a note obtained by the specialized media ESPN.

The rules outlined in the document went into effect Sunday night and will remain in place until January 19, when the League will give teams new guidance.

Under this agreement, teams will be allowed to recruit one player for each positive case of Covid-19 in their squad.

Recruits not taken into account for the salary cap

Teams will, on the other hand, have the obligation to recruit at least one player if they have two positive cases of Covid-19, at least two players if they have three positive cases, and at least three if they have four or more positive cases.

These replacement players, who will now be able to play more than 50 games per season, will also not be taken into account in the calculation of the team's salary cap or the luxury tax it could pay.

The NBA postponed five games on Sunday - three that were due to be played on Sunday (Atlanta-Cleveland, Brooklyn-Denver and Philadelphia-New Orleans), as well as Toronto-Orlando, scheduled for Monday, and Brooklyn-Washington, on Tuesday - due to the meteoric increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Over the past six days, more than 60 players have been placed in health protocol, including Hawks star Trae Young, three Nets stars Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, or 2019 and 2020 MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, of the Milwaukee Bucks.
