As a symbol, it was goalkeeper Emil Nielsen, author of a masterful performance, who scored the last victorious goal.

HBC Nantes, second in the Starligue, won their second Handball League Cup Sunday in Metz against Chambéry (28-21), after their coronation in 2015. Winners in the last moments against Montpellier (27-26) in half final Saturday, the Nantes have this time built their success in the first period, facing Chambériens surprise fallers of Paris SG (29-28).

In the wake of his Danish goalkeeper, author of eight saves in the first 30 minutes, the "H" returned to the locker room with three goals ahead (13-10).

An advantage also obtained in attack by the veteran Spanish Valero Rivera (6 goals) and Theo Monar (4 goals).

On all fronts, the young 20-year-old pivot has made his opponents suffer on both sides of the field.

Success built in the last quarter of an hour

In the second part of the game, the HBC first stabilized the gap to four goals before flying away in the last quarter of an hour, carried by a well-oiled collective.

David Balaguer (5 goals), Dragan Pechmalbec (3 goals) and Thibaud Briet (3 goals) enjoyed themselves against Nicolas Portner (5 saves on 24 shots), too permeable in the second period.

Opposite, the Savoyards, titled in 2002, collapsed offensively, still stumbling against an almost impassable Emil Nielsen (19 saves at 52.78%).

Recently beaten in the league by the untouchable Paris SG, HBC Nantes has therefore enriched its record, after the 2015 Coupe de la Ligue and the 2017 Coupe de France.
