Unlike two years ago, Fallon Sherrock will not make history again at the Darts World Cup.

The 27-year-old Englishwoman lost her opening match against compatriot Steve Beaton 2: 3 late on Sunday evening and thus does not get the chance to a possible third round duel with the Welsh defending champion Gerwyn Price.

Sherrock delivered a decent performance and threw several shots with the maximum number of 180 points in the first movement.

Seasoned Beaton (57), only known as "The Bronzed Adonis" in the darts scene, was booed when he walked in, but blocked the background noise in Alexandra Palace when he was 31st World Cup participation.

Sherrock got the second and fourth set in the meantime, but had to admit defeat in the end.

Best darts player in the world

In the weeks leading up to the World Cup, the best darts woman in the world had to answer numerous media inquiries.

The world association PDC and the broadcasting broadcaster Sky Sports also put them in the limelight.

At the World Cup two years ago, Sherrock defeated Ted Evetts and the Austrian Mensur Suljovic one after the other, making darts history.

Against Beaton, she was considered an easy favorite.

Beaton now meets the Belgian Kim Huybrechts.
