Throughout the design process, the actions, props, scenes, etc. of each winter sports, as well as the early cultural symbols and the forms of oracle bone inscriptions have been studied in depth.

  The original creative plan for the sports icons for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics has nearly 20 directions.

After determining the source of inspiration for "text", the original idea was to express it in calligraphy, but ice and snow sports are the embodiment of speed and power. It is presented in calligraphy. Some icons are okay, and some feel that the power is not enough.

  For example, when drawing ice hockey icons, it is difficult to use a brush to express the sense of power in an ice hockey game.

Therefore, the design team switched to the idea of ​​seal cutting. Compared with the brushwork, the knife technique used in seal cutting has a stronger sense of power.

  In the end, after repeated discussions, revisions and adjustments, 24 sports icons for the Beijing Winter Olympics and 6 sports icons for the Paralympics with Chinese cultural characteristics were officially launched.

  The sports icon, which is a fusion of seal cutting and Chinese characters, and the calligraphy brushwork embodied by the blade and the exquisite whiteness of the square inches, is not only a scene of great weather, but also echoes the "China Seal", the emblem of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. It has become the "Double Olympics" in Beijing. "The City" has left a unique cultural imprint on the world.

Through this set of icons, we can vividly feel the shape and spirit of winter sports, and the root and soul of Chinese culture.
