Corona spreads among Real Madrid players .. and 4 new injuries

Real Madrid, the leaders of the Spanish Football League, announced today that four new players in its ranks were infected with the Corona virus, a day after it was announced that its Brazilian back Marcelo and his Croatian playmaker Luka Modric had contracted “Covid-19”.

The Royal Club reported that Welshman Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Brazilian Rodrigo and Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrei Lomen joined the list of injured, while the result of Italian Davide Ancelotti, a member of the coaching staff and coach Carlo's son, was also positive.

Real took the maximum precautionary and health measures with the aim of controlling the spread of the virus in its ranks, three days before hosting Cadiz Club in the eighteenth stage competitions on Sunday.

The injuries were not limited to the Real football team, but the basketball coach Pablo Laso tested positive on Monday, along with the French international player Thomas Hortel, which prompted the capital club to pledge to conduct tests for players and managers of other sports departments in the club.

On Wednesday, Real announced the monitoring of two positive cases, Modric and Marcelo, while the results of the rest of the tests were negative.

Tests conducted on Thursday morning revealed five positive results (4 players and an administrator), bringing the total number of positive cases within the professional football team to seven.

According to the protocol in force in Spain, Real Madrid must play its match against Cadiz as long as it has at least 5 healthy players in the first team, including the goalkeeper.

Infected players who have previously received the vaccine will rejoin the team as soon as a negative result is submitted.

Real leads the Spanish league standings by 8 points from Seville, the second after 17 stages, while it is 13 points away from its arch-rival Atletico Madrid, the defending champion, after its 2-0 victory on Sunday.
