Pawel Cibicki received a yellow card in an Allsvenskan match in 2019, which later made him suspected of match-fixing-related crimes.

He was originally acquitted by the district court but is now sentenced by the court of appeal.

Frank Thorstensson tells TT that they are cruelly disappointed with the verdict and believe that the prosecution's evidence is not enough.

The Court of Appeal is of a different opinion.

- The prosecutors came in with supplementary evidence in the Court of Appeal which shows that part of this loan has been financed with gambling winnings from gambling on this yellow card, says Court of Appeal Councilor Per G Hansson, who was the court's chairman, to TT.

The fact that in the days before the match, 27 new betting accounts had been opened in the circle around the accused, where all had bet that Cibicki would receive a yellow card in the match, the Court of Appeal considers to be of great importance.

- It is a very troublesome circumstance, says Per G Hansson.

Thorstensson says that it is currently unclear whether they will appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.

For almost a year now, Cibicki has been suspended from all sports in Sweden for four years.

He is currently also suspended by Fifa worldwide.

The suspension has been appealed to the National Sports Board (Rin).

If we are to move on to HD, they (Rin) will have to wait and see with their decision.

In any case, we consider.

There is an acquittal and a conviction and it is probably no more than right that they wait, says Thorstensson.
