Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann has welcomed the fact that national soccer player Joshua Kimmich has publicized his rethinking of the corona vaccination after weeks of silence.

"I think it's basically good that he has spoken, that he has drawn out a bit about his feelings and thoughts," said Nagelsmann on Monday in the press conference before Bayern Munich's Bundesliga away game on Tuesday evening (6.30 p.m. in the FAZ live ticker for the Bundesliga and Sky) at VfB Stuttgart.

"He has taken the reins of action in hand," praised the 34-year-old coach.

The 26-year-old Kimmich announced in a ZDF interview on Sunday that he wanted to be vaccinated after all, and that he was given out against some media and parts of the public.

As an unvaccinated contact person, Kimmich recently had to be quarantined twice.

After a subsequent infection with the virus, his comeback with the German champions is currently being delayed due to lung problems after the Covid disease.

The midfielder can be used again in the new year at the earliest.

Musiala with metacarpal fracture

“It was just difficult for me to deal with my fears and concerns.

That's why I was undecided for so long, "said Kimmich about the vaccination.

But he also said that he had found the heated debate about his vaccination concerns "completely exaggerated and sometimes even dangerous".

"Limits were simply exceeded."

Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic approved of the national player's vaccination rethinking.

"We have the corona issue as good as through," he said on Monday.

Kimmich's team-mate Jamal Musiala had last been vaccinated.

A vaccination against Corona was also recently reported in the recovered attacker Serge Gnabry.

Musiala meanwhile gives Munich concerns in midfield.

The national player suffered a fracture of the fourth metacarpal bone against FSV Mainz 05 (2: 1) according to coach Nagelsmann.

“He has a rail and could play with it.

In the end, it's a pain issue, ”said the coach.

Nagelsmann is also worried about Leon Goretzka and now Corentin Tolisso.

National player Goretzka still has knee problems and will "only ride if he is painless," said Nagelsmann.

Tolisso complained of muscular problems in his thigh after the Mainz game.

Marcel Sabitzer got back into training after his calf injury, but is probably not yet available.

Marc Roca and Michael Cuisance are available as alternatives.

"The personnel situation allows him to get longer playing time," said Nagelsmann about Roca.

He looks forward to the duel with his former co-trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo with some excitement.

VfB was “incredibly difficult to prepare,” he said, and Pellegrino “always had something special” up his sleeve: “They are very tough opponents who will demand a lot from us.

You can only counter that with a lot of dominance. "
