The record attempt was made at Praia do Norte in Nazaré on the Portuguese Atlantic coast.

The place is known for the waves of over 20 meters that attract surfers from all over the world between October and March.

A skimboard is smaller than a regular surfboard, about 131x50 centimeters large and 2.5 centimeters thick, has no fins and is usually used to perform various tricks on lower waves at shallower waters.
