The Ministry of Interior announced the organization of the first edition of the “Police Championship for Heritage Games” in the second week of next January to celebrate its golden jubilee.

The head of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ahmed Mohamed Rafie, revealed that the heritage games tournament includes eight diverse games, with the participation of 175 players from seven police leaders, competing in 44 matches, to be held in all emirates of the country.

This came during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, during which the Head of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Ahmed Muhammad Rafi, and the Chairman of the Legacy and Popular Games Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Ministry of Interior spoke, Brigadier Saif Saeed Al Shamsi, in the presence of members of the championship advisory committee.

Major General Ahmed Mohamed Rafie said: "We are pleased to announce the launch of the first championship of its kind to be held in conjunction with the golden jubilee of the UAE, and these celebrations are not limited to the past 50 years, but also to the next 50 years."

The tournament program includes games based on muscle strength and speed, strength of observation, focus and endurance, high speed, muscular and nervous coordination, physical and muscular strength, flexibility, strength and speed.

He added: "The tournament will be held following the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, and the ancestors of our ancestors who left us a lot of folklore, which we have the right to be proud of, preserve and develop, to remain an asset for this country and for future generations."

The tournament is organized in cooperation with the Police Sports Federation, the Dubai Sports Council, the Sharjah Heritage Institute, the Emirates Heritage Club, the Hamdan bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, and the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi.

He continued, "Our heritage will remain over the next 50 years. We will preserve and develop it constantly, so when the Higher Committee for the Golden Jubilee of the Ministry of Interior celebrations was formed with the formation of His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, His Highness indicated that the celebrations of all kinds must be Heritage plays a pivotal and essential role in it.”

For his part, Head of the Heritage and Popular Games Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Saif Saeed Al Shamsi, said that “the eight games were carefully selected from among the many games in our heritage, as the focus was on games that are characterized by speed, strength, agility and work.” Collective action is consistent with the work of the police.”

He added: "After the adoption of these games, the technical and arbitration laws and regulations organized in coordination with the Police Sports Federation, and members of the advisory committee who laid the basis for these games, and there will be six referees for these games, and workshops will be held for all concerned from the police leaders, all participants and administrators. And coaches during the coming period to explain all the regulations and conditions for the competitions.”
