Mbappe opened the scoring with a penalty kick, then added the second goal with a perfect shot at the end of the first half from a decisive pass from his colleague Lionel Messi, bringing Paris Saint-Germain's tally to 45 points from 18 games, 13 points ahead of Olympique Marseille, who has a game in hand.

Monaco, who won their last two league matches with 3 goals each, remained in eighth place with 26 points.

Monaco joined 5 clubs competing for second place with Marseille, separated by only 6 points, as Stade Rennes is in third place and has 31 points, after losing 2-1 to its guest, Nice, fourth in the standings.
