Football national player Joshua Kimmich now wants to be vaccinated against the virus after a corona infection, according to ZDF.

The FC Bayern Munich professional told the broadcaster, according to a report on Sunday: "In general, it was just difficult for me to deal with my fears and concerns, that's why I was undecided for so long."

The 26-year-old has been at the center of a heated social debate about the Corona Piks in recent weeks because of his vaccination doubts. Kimmich had said at the end of October that he had “a few personal concerns, especially when it comes to the lack of long-term studies”. According to many experts, such long-term after-effects are excluded from vaccinations against Covid-19. In addition to Kimmich, four other Bayern professionals were unvaccinated until a few weeks ago. Overall, according to the German Football League, more than 90 percent of the players in the two professional football leagues were vaccinated.

Kimmich announced in a club announcement on Thursday that he could no longer play for the Bundesliga leaders this year "due to slight infiltration in the lungs".

Intensive care physicians understand a slight infiltration of the lungs to mean that the bronchi or alveoli are affected by the virus, but that the lung function is less restricted.

The 26-year-old made his last appearance so far in a 2-1 win against SC Freiburg on November 6th.

After that, Kimmich first had to be in quarantine as an unvaccinated contact person for teammate Niklas Süle.

He then infected himself with the corona virus.

The 64-time national player also missed the final World Cup qualifiers in November.

Kimmich is also a key player in the DFB selection for the new national coach Hansi Flick.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said he wasn't worried because the infiltration wasn't that dramatic.

Kimmich is only allowed to strain the heart and body lightly.

On Saturday, Nagelsmann stated that he assumed that Kimmich could start training in seven to ten days after his corona infection.

For his part, Kimmich can assume that there will be no long-term consequences for him.
