The Algerian national team qualified for the semi-finals of the Arab Cup soccer tournament currently being held in Qatar, by defeating its Moroccan counterpart 5-3 on penalties, after the end of the original and extra time for the match with a 2-2 draw.

Algeria scored all five of its kicks, while veteran goalkeeper Rais M'Bolhi saved Karim El Berkaoui's shot.

Algeria opened the scoring with a penalty kick awarded by the referee after returning to the VAR technique, due to a mistake by Mohamed Chibi against Youssef Belaili, and Yassine Brahimi successfully executed it in the 62nd minute.
