Marvik's fate with the UAE national team was decided on Monday

An official source revealed to "Emirates Today" that the fate of the Emirates national football team coach, Dutchman Bert van Marwijk, was not resolved during the meeting of the National Teams Committee held today, Saturday, but that the meeting will issue mere recommendations that will be submitted to the Board of Directors of the Football Association to study and take the appropriate decision. Regarding it, during its upcoming meeting the day after tomorrow, Monday, which will be held via video call remotely at five o’clock in the evening, headed by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the Federation.

The Board of Directors of the Football Association is scheduled to discuss the technical and administrative report of the team’s recent participation in the 2021 Arab Cup.

Sports circles circulated the name of the national coach, Abdulaziz Al-Anbari, to coach the team during its remaining matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, succeeding coach Marvik, who sports circles are calling for his dismissal against the background of the team’s failure in the Arab Cup.  

The Dutch coach Marvik took over the UAE national team for the second time in December 2020, succeeding former Colombian coach Luis Pinto.
