FC Bayern Munich gave coach Julian Nagelsmann the 100th victory in the Bundesliga and expanded the lead in the standings.

Kingsley Coman (53rd minute) and Jamal Musiala (74th) turned the intense game around on Saturday in a 2-1 (0-1) against the courageous FSV Mainz 05 with a lot of effort and thanks to an increase after the break.

Karim Onisiwo had given the formally strong guests hope for points in the empty Allianz Arena after the opening goal (22nd minute).

Bayern increased their lead at the top of the table to six points with Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw at VfL Bochum.

Mainz turned out to be the "unpleasant opponent" that Nagelsmann had warned about shortly before the kick-off. Biting in the duels and tactically extremely disciplined, they braced themselves against the playfully superior Munich team. The early opening goal gave coach Bo Svensson's team even more courage. While the Dane applauded his team from the coaching zone, Nagelsmann was initially clear a week after the 3-2 draw against BVB.

Like in January, when Bayern had to make up a 2-0 break deficit under Nagelsmann's predecessor Hansi Flick, this time too, without the missing midfield duo Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka, an increase was necessary after the break. After his corona infection, Kimmich will not be able to play again until the new year. His substitute Corentin Tolisso is also threatened with a break.

The game had actually started as usual. Bavaria put pressure on, Mainz had a lot of defensive and duel work to do. In the few exonerating actions, the guests flirted with a penalty whistle (20th). Munich defense chief Dayot Upamecano met attacker Jae-Sung Lee, who fell a little exaggerated. The video assistant shared referee Benjamin Cortus' view that it was not punishable. The 05ers didn't quarrel - and only struck a little later. Anton Stach and Jonathan Burkhardt prevailed against the too timid Benjamin Pavard and Upamecano, after Burkhardt's flank Tolisso did not accept the air duel with Onisiwo. The Austrian gave Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer no chance with his header.

The often imprecise people in Munich struggled to come up with clear options. There were still good chances before the break. Thomas Müller shot out of the crowd just over the goal (32nd), Coman failed after a wild flight from FSV goalkeeper Robin Zentner to defender Alexander Hack (44th). Two header chances immediately after the break by Robert Lewandowski (46th) and Coman (49th) documented the great will to turn around.

Tolisso initiated this a little later with a dream pass to Coman, who overcame hundredweight with a shot through the legs.

The “King” only missed the opening goal shortly after equalizing (62nd).

Bavaria no longer gave up.

After Mainz couldn't clear the ball, Pavard hung up for Musiala.

The junior finished with a low shot.

Nagelsmann applauded satisfied and was able to cheer for the round success in the 199th game.
