French diplomatic representatives will be doing well at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Jean-Michel Blanquer announced Thursday morning on RMC that France will not take part in the diplomatic boycott, unlike the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.

"France will not do it", declared Mr. Blanquer, adding that he would not however make the trip to Beijing in February for the competition but that the Minister for Sports Roxana Maracineanu would go to China.

"Sport must be preserved as much as possible"

“France is unambiguous,” says the Minister of Education and Sports: we have condemned discrimination and persecution on minorities, as well as on Uyghurs.

I also say my concern about Peng Shuai.

We must be firm and clear.

But the subject of the diplomatic boycott is another story.

France will not do it.

We must be attentive to the relationship between sport and politics.

Sport must be preserved as much as possible from interference with politics.

Otherwise, we will end up killing all the competitions.
