- I choose to resign because I am extremely responsible for the men's team's results and they are, despite tough circumstances, far too bad this season.

I also do not feel that I have the confidence of the entire board.

After seven years in Djurgården as a leader, Joakim Eriksson resigned yesterday as strategic sports manager.

There has been a real storm around the club in recent weeks.

Not only is the club last in the SHL, the club management has, in parallel with the weak results, also had to handle a report of negative discrimination.

A report that former captain Linus Videll executed and which resulted in an investigation made by the board with CEO Tomas Kraft at the helm.

How much has your decision (to resign) been affected by the fact that you and Barry Smith were the subject of an investigation into negative discrimination?

- It has not had any decisive significance for my decision.

Was it entirely your own decision to resign?

- It was entirely my decision.

Disappointed with Linus Videll

How much has your decision (to resign) been affected by the fact that you and Barry Smith were the subject of an investigation into negative discrimination?

- Djurgården's official investigation carried out by the board was in my opinion very professionally carried out and I share the communicated conclusion to 100 percent.

Let me say this.

I do not doubt that Linus has been really disappointed with the situation around the captain's role.

It was vaguely communicated internally and it was not meant to make Linus feel the way he did.

That's something I'm sorry about.

But at the same time, there is a lot in Linus' actions over the past two months within Djurgården's men's team that has been extremely selfish and which I know that both teammates and staff within Dif are very disappointed with.

What are these things about?

- I do not want to go into that.

Takes full responsibility

How much has the team's negative sporting results been affected by this situation?

- The situation with Linus Videll is not the reason for our poor result.

I am ultimately responsible for the results of men's sports and I take full responsibility for that.

The board may take responsibility for the financial resources that the men's team has at its disposal relative to our competitors.

Tobbe (Tobias Pehrsson, acting sports director) and the coaches have a responsibility in the clarity of the game and its impact on the players.

The players' deviating individual achievements are their own responsibility.

In addition to this, we have had an enormously tough injury situation during the autumn, which has greatly affected our situation.

I now hope that a more injury-free team after Christmas with some necessary recruitment can turn this situation around.

Is there anything that you feel you would have done differently now with the outcome in hand around this event that shook the club?

- There are lots of things that I could have done differently in the last 7-8 months.

But it does not matter now.

Djurgården must come together.

In times of need, the support of our supporters is needed most.

So I really hope that all Dif supporters can come together and become the necessary sixth outfielder that the team now needs to turn this around!

How have you felt lately.

- It has been a job around the clock for a long time and both the bud and the body are really tired and worn.

It is always tough to have to receive all so-called.

experts' opinions who do not have insight into what is happening but still consider themselves to know.

But it is also part of the job and I do not escape my responsibility for our situation.

I will now rest for a few days…
