As expected, Amélie Mauresmo was appointed this Thursday morning director of Roland-Garros to replace Guy Forget, who had announced his departure on Tuesday.
The announcement was made by the President of the French Tennis Federation, Gilles Moretton, during a press conference held at the site of the Parisian Grand Slam tournament.
"We are very happy to announce that Amélie Mauresmo will be the new director of Roland-Garros at least until 2024", declared the boss of the FFT.
The former world number 1, who was named captain of the France Davis Cup team in June 2018 before resigning following the announcement of the format change, said she was "honored" to take the lead of this prestigious tournament.
"It is a great pride, I will be up to it," she promised.
