They accused him of bias towards the Egyptians.. Issam Chawali in the crosshairs of the Algerians' criticism

Algerian fans attacked the Tunisian commentator, Issam Chawali, against the background of what they observed of statements that carried bias and encouragement to the Egyptian team, during the two teams' match in the Arab Cup, according to their comments on social media.

Algeria 1 website stated that Shawali is causing a wave of indignation and mockery on the part of the Algerians because of his bias and outrageous encouragement to the Egyptian team.

Egypt and Algeria tied 1-1 on Tuesday, but the Egyptian team topped Group D on the basis of fair play.

The site said in a lengthy report that "Shawali insulted Algeria in football matches and put him in the forbidden category, and he fell from the hearts of Algerians."

The Algerian press highlighted the failure of its team to take the lead in its group in the Arab Cup, after a draw against its Egyptian counterpart, who managed to settle the first place in his favour, after resorting to the fair play system, following a tie in the number of points and goal difference with the Desert Foxes.

And the headline of the Algerian newspaper Al-Shorouk: "The local team ends the group stage with a draw."

The same newspaper accused the referee of the meeting, Facundo of complimenting the Pharaohs, as it stated: “The Argentine referee appeared as if he was new to international competitions, and he was distinguished by hesitation and courtesy, and he also announced a controversial penalty against the Algerian national team.

The newspaper also focused on the statements of Majid Bougherra, the coach of Algeria, in which he launched an attack on the referee.

Bougherra said that the referee, Facundo Teo, was not up to the reputation of the Algerian and Egyptian teams, and explained that the referee exaggerated the punishment of the national team players.

For its part, An-Nahar network titled: "The Greens are tied against Egypt. They lose the lead and clash with Morocco in the quarter-finals," which was similar to what was reported by Al-Khabar newspaper, which titled: "The Greens lost the lead and face Morocco," and added: "The two teams' fans waited until the minute 90 to know the leader of the fourth group, after Hilal Soudani made a naive mistake, in which he received a yellow card that favored the Egyptians.”
