"The Chinese side has repeatedly stressed that the Olympics are not a platform for political shows and manipulations," Wenbing was quoted as saying by TASS.

He clarified that China has not invited any Australian government officials to the Winter Olympics.

"Whether they come or not, no one will pay attention," added a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to him, the actions of the Australian authorities "will not have any impact on the successful holding of the Winter Olympics in Beijing."

Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australian politicians would not attend the 2022 Winter Olympics.

On December 6, the US White House press office also officially announced the boycott of the Beijing Olympics.
