In early July, it became clear that Umeå will arrange the World Rally Championship on 24-27 February 2022. But the work on the distances for Rally Sweden has dragged on and now it is unclear whether the World Cup can be run in Västerbotten.
"We work on all fronts to solve our problems and do everything we can to enable a world championship rally in Sweden and Umeå", writes Glenn Olsson, CEO of Rally Sweden, in a text message to SVT Sport.
On Tuesday, Olsson confirmed, for VK, that they had meetings with the International Motorsport Federation.
- We have had meetings all day, he says, to the newspaper.
But Olsson also says that the International Motorsport Federation has not yet taken over the process.
- No, they have not done that but we are under pressure.
We are not used to being late, it is a new situation for us.
