Frida Karlsson has won two distance races out of three possible during the start of the World Cup, the latest victory after a thrilling duel with Therese Johaug in Lillehammer.

But the 22-year-old also went all the way to the sprint final in Ruka - and before the season, Karlsson opened precisely because she wants to run more sprints.

Both in the World Cup - and in the championship.

And if Frida Karlsson's wish is fulfilled, she is one of two skiers who run the sprint relay for Sweden during the Olympics in Beijing.

- It is probably a goal to aim for.

Classic sprint and three repetitions, it should suit me very well.

So it is a dream to aim for, says Karlsson to SVT Sport.

That it is a realistic goal to aim for is very much about the sprint relay fitting well into Karlsson's other competition schedule during the Olympics.

The race is decided four days after the relay and four days before the three-mile race.

- I had already checked it out last year, so it's something I've been working towards anyway.

”Team MDFK”

But apart from the fact that the sprint relay is perfectly in the schedule, it is also tempting for Karlsson to perhaps get the chance to chase medals together with the radar partner Maja Dahlqvist,

- It would still be big.

"Team MDFK" in a team sprint, then we would be dangerous.

And "MD" agrees with "FK".

- Regardless of who you join the team, we are all good friends.

But if we were to go "MDFK" it would have been a bit of a golden edge anyway, says Dahlqvist.

National team manager Anders Byström believes that Frida Karlsson has good chances of running well in a sprint relay, but at the same time states that there is a long way to go before the championship.

- It sounds exciting, but so far we have not come up with the idea yet.

First we have to make an Olympic selection in total and see who we get there.

But it is quite clear that Frida would do very well in a sprint relay.
